Board Celebrates Retirees, Student Achievements, and District Honors

At the May 28 Penn-Delco School Board Meeting, the district honored excellence across the board - from years of dedicated service to outstanding student performance and district-wide recognition.

Among the many highlights of the evening was a heartfelt tribute to the 2024–2025 retirees, who together represent hundreds of years of service to students and families across the district. We thank each retiree for the care, commitment, and positive impact they’ve made throughout their careers:

  • Margaret Beam - Clerical Assistant at Aston Elementary School
  • Leontine Brightwell -Full time Custodian at Sun Valley High School
  • Donna Butterworth - Bus Driver
  • Mauri Fava – Teacher - Northley Middle School
  • Janice Hazinsky - Head Day Custodian at Coebourn Elementary School
  • Joseph Kurylak - Network Administrator
  • Sheena Litwin - Bus Driver
  • Janet MacCall - Bus Driver
  • Theresa McHugh - Second Grade Teacher at Parkside Elementary School
  • Susan Mingey - Special Education Teacher at Northley Middle School
  • Linda Murphy - Secretary to the Principal at Aston Elementary School
  • Michael Nelson - Maintenance Laborer
  • Scott Rickards - Bus Driver

Also honored at the meeting:

  • Shane Coyle, recognized as Penn-Delco’s first-ever District Security Resource Officer, for his exceptional dedication to school safety.
  • Brandon Carr, named All-Delco Wrestler of the Year, representing Sun Valley with excellence on and off the mat.
  • Our Young Authors’ Project winners, celebrated for their creativity and storytelling talent.
  • Our “We the People” Award recipients, acknowledged for their civic engagement and academic excellence.
  • And a districtwide honor: Penn-Delco has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education - a testament to the strength of our music programs and the value we place on the arts.
